Summer Reading Book Recommendations: Week 10

It's hard to believe there's only one week left in summer reading book recommendations! Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, let's take a look at this week's books, all of them fairy tales or classic retellings:
Access the full presentation HERE
With the exception of Frogkisser! by Garth Nix, all of this week's recommendations are based on tales readers know, like Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. Even Leigh Bardugo's The Language of Thorns uses traditional myths, legends, and folklore in three of her six short stories. However, for fans of magic and tales of adventure, there is plenty of original storytelling here for you as well! Why not stop by the library in another two weeks and check out one of these books?

Fairy tales and classic retellings not your favorite genre? Follow me on Twitter (@ccls531) or scroll through the blog to see other recommendations from the summer. There's likely something to appeal to your reader sense!

Classic Retellings

Looking for a new genre to try? A popular genre with many options to read is classic retellings.

So what are classic retellings? Think of a traditional fairy tale, but with a switch or twist to it.

Many options wait for you to check out. Looking for a Cinderella story? Cinder or Ash and Bramble might appeal to you.

Or maybe you're a fan of Beauty and the Beast? Then try Beastly, As Old As Time, or Hunted.

Looking for something different? Take a look at some of our other classic retellings:

We hope to see you soon--and maybe with a classic retelling to check out!
