#MGBookTober 2020

It's been another fun and engaging #MGBookTober on Twitter! Each year a group of authors, teachers, and librarians prepare a list of prompts to promote reading and literacy among readers of middle grade books. This is the third October that I have participated, and this year was another great experience!

Below are the prompts and my notes about my responses:

Because of others' responses, I've read Three Keys by Kelly Yang and Before the Ever After by Jacqueline Woodson. I'm also excited to read Efren Divided by Ernesto Cisneros, a debut middle grade author in 2020. You can see some of my tweets below:

If you're interested in other #MGBookTober suggestions and responses, be sure to search for the hashtag on Twitter! Happy reading!

ABCs of DCGMS Library: M is for #MGBookTober

We're officially half-way through the ABCs of the DCGMS Library--that means we're on letter M for #MGBookTober.

During the month of October, my advisory students and I participated in #MGBookTober, sharing the books and authors as determined by the month's postings.

We highlighted several different days as a full advisory, taking pictures with our books and collaborating on a Slides presentation, and students also shared responses on Flipgrid. Two blog posts share details of our work.

To celebrate each day in #MGBookTober, I also posted responses on Twitter. You can find them by searching for @ccls531. Didn't participate last year? No problem! #MGBookTober is only a few short months away!

#MGBookTober, Part II

We're half way through October, so it's time to update our #MGBookTober progress. Students again worked on a Google Slide that showcased their answers to today's prompt, What MG character would you want to be?

Also, students have responded using Flipgrid:

It's #MGBookTober!

It's now fall and officially October, so that means it's also MGBookTober, a time when we celebrate middle grade fiction. Here's the list of daily book questions/ideas to support #MGBookTober:

We're off to a strong, two-day start with my advisory group! We all brought our "currently reading" books for a book selfie on Oct. 1.

And we're ready to share our "want to read next" ideas with a Google Slides presentation. You can CLICK HERE to see what my advisory is excited to read next.

Stay tuned! There are lots and lots of days in October, and we've only just begun! Want to follow us as we work? You can follow Mrs. Ellis on Twitter: @ccls531, or you can follow the MS library on Snapchat and Instagram: @dcglibraries. Happy reading & sharing!
