New Book/Movie/Dinner Club at the Grimes Public Library

Are you looking for a fun way to spend an evening with friends? The Grimes Public Library is offering a new opportunity for teens and pre-teens--the RVR Club.
At the Read/View/Refuel Club, you can talk about the book, watch the movie, and enjoy some food all at the same time! The first meeting is planned for Tues. Oct. 22, when The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will be the featured book and movie. Fliers are located in the library and outside the library doors, and you can visit the Grimes Public Library website for more information, too.

Coming Soon to Theaters Near You!

It's not uncommon these days for adolescent literature to be made into movies. Did the Harry Potter series with its wildly successful movies help make this more mainstream? Maybe, and movie-makers now seem to be looking at YA lit more often for more book-to-movie adaptations.

So what's coming out in theaters soon? Take a look at some of the trailers below to see what you can expect soon--and maybe get that book read before the movie comes out!

Out in November, 2013: The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak

Out in November, 2013: Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card

Out in February, 2014: The Maze Runner, by James Dasher

Out in March, 2014: Divergent, by Veronica Roth

DREAM BIG!

Again this year we are DREAMING BIG at DCG Middle School! With a focus on thinking beyond ourselves and beyond today, we're improving and inspiring ourselves and others to be people of character and competence.

To reinforce this idea, the new library display has a DREAM BIG emphasis and features books with dreams or dreaming in the title.

Stop by to check out any of these books, as well as explore other books with a DREAM BIG theme. See you soon!
